Today’s daily photo is of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Constructed in the early 1400′s, the temple was used in ceremonies for good harvests particularly during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The emperor is regarded as the ‘Son of Heaven’ and they carried out the prayers themselves to ensure continuously good harvests for the following year. For me, the temple is my favourite Beijing attraction.
